Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System in North Carolina seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support medication preparation, inventory control, and unit-dose distribution across the health system.

The role requires English proficiency, 1 year of experience preferred, and PTCB or ExCPhT certification; sterile/non-sterile compounding and ADC operations training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• PTCB certification or ExCPhT completion required.
• Registered with NC Board of Pharmacy or within 30 days of hire.
• Pharmacy technician program preferred.
• 1 year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in medication preparation by selecting, counting, compounding, labeling and packaging.
• Maintain and replenish inventory of medications and supplies.
• Stock and replace emergency crash carts and RSI/NICU items across the health system.
• Refill and deliver unit dose carts, Pyxis batches, IV admixture and bulk stock as needed.
• Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding after training.
• Conduct nursing unit inspections and surveillance to prevent expired medications.
• Assist in training of new technicians and students; orient new staff within first year.
• Protect patient and staff privacy and handle confidential information.
