Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Assist in other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in pharmacy system operations and cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.

Operations

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy, and review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, checking interactions, and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Register all related sales on an assigned cash register, handle cash, and facilitate OTC aisle assistance.
• Answer telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention.
• Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services promptly and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments; maintain knowledge of asset protection and file claims for overages, shortages, and order errors.
• Assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling patient samples, coordinating with Walgreens clinics and external providers.
• Support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community and outreach to health groups.
• Assist in exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department to keep it stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, comply with policies, and complete special assignments as required.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification; PTCB certification may be a condition for promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training, complete PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Basic Qualifications

• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English. (Not required in Puerto Rico.)
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
