Job summary

Catholic Health Initiatives is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications for patients at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

You will process prescriptions, compound IV medications, manage inventory, and assist patients while following Joint Commission and Texas Board of Pharmacy guidelines. The role requires attention to detail, organization, and a professional patient-focused demeanor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy registration required at hire.
  • Active CPT-EXCPT/CPT-PTCB/CPHT certification required at hire.
  • 6 months IV medication compounding experience required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, distributes and delivers medications per policies and regulations.
  • Processes prescriptions, compounds medications, and supports daily operations.
  • Manages inventory and maintains QA documentation.
  • Operates automated medication delivery systems and devices.
  • Assists patients with inquiries and ensures patient safety and care.

Skills

CPT-EXCPT / CPT-PTCB / CPHT cert
IV medication compounding experience

Education

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician , you will provide essential support to pharmacists, ensuring the accurate and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications to patients.

Every day you will expertly process prescriptions, compound medications, manage inventory, and meticulously assist patients with their inquiries, all while adhering to strict safety and regulatory guidelines.

To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a professional, patient-focused demeanor, contributing to safe medication practices and excellent patient care.

  • Prepares, distributes and delivers medications in accordance with CSH policies and procedures, The Joint Commission requirements, and Department of Health regulations.
  • Performs clerical and administrative tasks in support of the day to day operations of the department.
  • Maintains proper medication and supply stock levels
  • Operates and maintains automated medication delivery systems and devices.
  • Participates in department quality assurance programs and maintains appropriate quality assurance documentation.
  • Trained and certified in IV admixture preparation including all regulatory and compliance requirements with required training and documentation. This may include preparation and handling of hazardous / chemotherapy medication if applicable.
Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, upon hire
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, upon hire
  • Active CPT-EXCPT or CPT-PTCB or CPHT certification in good standing, upon hire
  • 6 months experience compounding of IV medication, upon hire

Pay Range

$25.50 - $25.50 /hour
