Job description

In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Base pay range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
• Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers if PTCB certified.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, offering assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.
• Assist with operating the cash register, collecting cash, and directing customers to the OTC aisle when appropriate.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including those to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community and other health care providers.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and orderly Pharmacy Department and comply with all company policies.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification.
• Attend training, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits.

Basic Qualifications

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingly work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least six months of experience in a retail environment.

• Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
