Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in providing high-quality pharmaceutical care. The role involves preparing, dispensing, recording, and transporting medications for patients across all age groups.

Under minimal supervision, the technician performs duties with a high level of proficiency and supports transitional duty assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Virginia Board of Pharmacy registration is required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) is required within 6 months of employment.
• Experience preferred: one year previous pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting; typing speed of 20-30 wpm.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting medications for all patients.
• Under minimal supervision, perform duties at a high level of proficiency and demonstrate ownership for the work area.
• Communicate effectively with all staff members and identify equipment or operational problems and bring them to a pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
