Job summary

R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA in Williamsburg, VA, is seeking a Livestrong Instructor - Personal Trainer to create safe, individualized fitness plans for members. You will educate on proper form, record progress, and collaborate with staff to ensure an exceptional member experience.

The role requires a PT certification, CPR/First Aid, 6+ months wellness experience, and ongoing trainings to uphold YMCA standards and community health goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Minimum 6 months experience in the wellness field.
• Nationally recognized Personal Training certification (ACSM, NSCA, AFFAA, ACE, Cooper Institute, IFPA, NASM, NESTA).
• Specialty II/Level 1 requires a nationally recognized PT certification and 6 months training experience.
• Specialty II/Level 2 requires a nationally recognized PT certification and 2-4 years’ training experience.
• Specialty II/Level 3 requires a nationally recognized PT certification and 6+ years’ training experience.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles and Foundations of Strength and Conditioning within 6 months.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2.
• Complete trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment (annual).
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and goals of the YMCA.
• Lead with values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Design safe, individualized programs based on participant needs and fitness levels.
• Provide proper instruction on form and technique.
• Maintain records on clients.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Follow department standards and wear appropriate attire.
• Act as a leader in emergencies and report incidents.
• Carry out related duties to ensure excellent member experience.
