Job summary

The Hampton Family YMCA, located in Hampton, Virginia, seeks a dedicated Personal Trainer to design safe, individualized exercise programs and guide members toward healthier lifestyles. Under supervision, you will promote YMCA values and ensure high-quality service while maintaining accurate client records and participating in trainings.

Qualified candidates have 18+ years, 6 months wellness experience, and a nationally recognized PT certification, plus CPR/First Aid/AED/O2.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Minimum 6 months wellness experience.
• Must have nationally recognized PT certification (ACSM, NSCA, AFFAA, ACE, The Cooper Institute, IFPA, NASM, and NESTA).
• Specialty II/Level 1 requires nationally recognized PT cert and 6 months training experience.
• Specialty II/Level 2 requires nationally recognized PT cert and 2-4 years’ training experience.
• Specialty II/Level 3 requires nationally recognized PT cert and 6+ years’ training experience.
• Must obtain YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles and Foundations within first 6 months.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2.
• Complete trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment on hire and annually.
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks required.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA.
• Lead with values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Lead to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
• Design safe, individual programs based on participants’ needs, goals and fitness levels.
• Provide proper instruction on form and technique.
• Maintain client records.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Follow department standards.
• Wear staff uniform or professional attire when appropriate.
• Lead in emergencies and report accidents per plan.
• Carry out related duties to ensure excellent member experience.
