Certified Peer Support Specialist

Job summary

NuLook Home Care Agency is seeking a compassionate Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Behavioral Health team. You will use your lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to inspire hope, promote wellness, and help individuals achieve meaningful recovery goals.

This role provides community-based support, skill development, connection to resources, and encouragement of independence while collaborating with Qualified Professionals and an interdisciplinary care

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification is required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License is required.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Automobile insurance is required.
• Ability to pass criminal background checks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Basic computer and smartphone skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide Medicaid Peer Support Services in accordance with NC Medicaid guidelines.
• Build trusting, recovery-focused relationships with members.
• Assist individuals in developing independent living and recovery skills.
• Connect members with community resources and natural supports.
• Participate in Person-Centered Planning.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in supervision and required trainings.
• Report incidents or safety concerns according to agency policy.
• Travel throughout the community to meet with members.

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will use your lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery to inspire hope, promote wellness, and help individuals achieve meaningful recovery goals. You will provide community-based support, assist with skill development, connect individuals with resources, and encourage independence while working closely with Qualified Professionals and the interdisciplinary care team. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact while helping individuals build confidence, improve daily living skills, and remain active within their communities.

Qualifications – Preferred

• One year of Peer Support experience.
• Experience working with Medicaid recipients.
• Knowledge of community behavioral health resources.
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
