Job Description
LIV Recovery is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPS) to support programming efforts for our clients to encourage recovery, wellness, and healthy lifestyle behaviors. The Peer Support Supervisor must have completed a state-approved or national Peer Support Specialist Training program. Candidates should have experience in peer support and a background in substance use or mental health recovery. Their lived experience enables them to offer authentic empathy and hope, helping clients see that recovery is achievable.
Essential Job Duties
- Self‑Care & Advocacy: Teach self‑care and advocacy strategies to help clients stay drug and alcohol free during program participation.
- Empathy & Understanding: Show respect and empathy for those facing serious mental health issues through understanding and shared experiences.
- Mission & Values Adherence: Consistently uphold the LIV Recovery mission and values by following all policies and demonstrating professional conduct.
- Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with staff and clients. Utilize documentation appropriately to communicate client progress.
- Goal Achievement: Support clients individually and in groups to reach their goals and facilitate recovery activities.
- Symptom Management & Participation: Escort clients to appointments when needed, monitor recovery (bed‑checks, urinalysis), and lead group sessions as outlined in care plans.
- Promoting Wellness: Support recovery efforts, encourage healthy habits, and ensure a safe environment by monitoring sobriety and promoting daily responsibilities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year of continuous recovery.
- Previous experience working in behavioral health, recovery, or residential care settings preferred.
