As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will be responsible for providing peer support services to those in an inpatient setting by serving as an advocate to help consumers regain control over their lives through the recovery process. Work involves collaboration with peer mentors, other hospital staff, family and community members, and other advocates to assist consumers in self-identifying personal goals for recovery, determining steps to reach recovery goals, and providing an environment of mutual respect, empowerment, and opportunities within their communities. Work also entails providing information on public services, educational opportunities, employment and vocational skill supports, as well as actively listening to and advocating with consumers reflectively to recognize their strengths and recovery options. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position may require overtime and emergency call-in.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will requirea medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
