The Veteran Certified Peer Specialist has lived experience of military service along with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use challenges. They partner with Veterans to facilitate recovery and community integration using personal life experience and recovery knowledge. Responsibilities include helping Veterans articulate goals, learn and practice new skills, monitor progress, model coping techniques, and advocate for effective services. Services are provided individually and in group settings.
Ability to sit for 2 hours per day (up to 1 hour consecutively), stand for 8 hours (up to 2 hours consecutively), walk for 6 hours (up to 10 minutes consecutively), and perform frequent fingering, stooping, bending, reaching, touching, and hearing activities. Visual abilities include general, near, color, and peripheral vision.
