Job description

Make a difference in the lives of some of Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens! The Clarks Summit State Hospital is seeking an experienced Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. Your work in this role will provide peer support services to the individuals who reside at our hospital. If you want to begin a rewarding new opportunity, apply today!

As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will contribute support to facilitate recovery and help patients identify the services and support needed. Your duties will include participating in Community Support Plan meetings, assisting peers in understanding the process, and developing educational programs related to mental wellness. You will assist treatment providers, support individuals in navigating the mental health system, and help protect their rights. You can expect to manage crisis situations and aid peers in developing recovery skills. Additionally, you will participate in hospital-wide orientation presentations, human rights meetings, and patient advisory meetings as scheduled.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Free parking!
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB).

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
