Certified Peer Specialist (FT)

Description:
**$1,500 Sign-on Bonus**
We are seeking a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to provide peer support services, advocate for Persons in Recovery (PIRs), share coping skills, and offer recovery information. The CPS will assist PIRs in regaining control over their recovery process, including developing natural supports, enhancing social interactions, and managing symptoms that affect wellness. A commitment to RHD values should be demonstrated in all job duties.
Reports to: Team Leader
Essential Duties and Functions:
Direct Care:
- Deliver peer support services such as education, advocacy, and engagement in treatment.
Provide recovery support education for persons enrolled, staff, and family members, including:
- Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP)
- Self-help/mutual peer support groups
- Training and orientation for new enrollees and staff
- Supporting person-centered interventions as outlined in service plans
Facilitate group therapy sessions when appropriate, such as:
- WRAP
- Recovery Support Groups
- Community Meetings
- Symptom and Coping Skills
Assist individuals with independent living preparation.
Administrative:
- Complete documentation of services promptly according to agency policy.
Other:
- Maintain personal physical, mental, and emotional well-being to model healthy functioning.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership to support recovery.
Requirements:
- Certified Peer Specialist Certification
- HS Diploma/GED
- At least 2 years of experience working with others in Mental Health Recovery
- Maintain 18 credit hours of additional training annually
Physical Requirements:
Lifting Requirements: exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
Physical capabilities include standing, sitting, walking, handling objects, climbing, speaking/hearing, seeing, pushing/pulling, repetitive motion, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crouching, or crawling.
