Job summary

Gaudenzia seeks a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to support clients in recovery from substance use disorders across Maryland and neighboring areas. The role emphasizes dignity, compassion, and maintaining confidentiality while navigating challenging conversations.

The candidate will provide encouragement, develop aftercare plans, and connect clients with community resources, advocacy, and job-support services. Travel to program sites is expected.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma with Pennsylvania Certification Board training.
• Minimum 12 months of volunteer service or related employment.
• No substitutions for education or training.

Responsibilities

• Provide hope and encouragement needed for the client in reaching recovery goals.
• Reinforce recovery process and help identify weaknesses and strengths.
• Articulate personal recovery goals with the client.
• Develop aftercare/wellness recovery plans and resources.
• Promote self-advocacy and reduce stigma in the community.
• Advocate for effective recovery-based services.
• Attend mandatory treatment team meetings to discuss the client’s recovery process.
• Serve as a liaison with community support groups and referrals.
• Model coping techniques and problem-solving skills.
• Support vocational choices and address job-related anxiety.
• Assist with building social skills for job acquisition and tenure.
• Document progress, objectives, and plans collaboratively.
