Job summary

Partners Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) to support clients on their recovery journey in Minnesota. The CPRS will model wellness, provide peer recovery support, and assist with access to housing, employment, education, and community resources.

The role reports to the SUD Program Manager and involves non-exempt, full-time hours from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age.
  • Active PRS certification from the MN Certification Board.
  • Minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Knowledge and understanding of 245G implications.
  • DHS background study completed.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with primary counselor to determine appropriate peer recovery support services.
  • Schedule meetings with clients and enter appointments in the electronic health record system.
  • Document services accessed by clients including time and type of services in Ritten.
  • Communicate with counselors weekly to discuss mutual clients and support strategies.
  • Record ongoing progress toward accessing services, outcomes, and client response.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and clinical/treatment consultations with counselors.
  • Transport clients as needed and ensure safety policies are followed.
  • Assist clients in housing planning and coordinate with housing management.
  • Maintain relationships with community resources (food shelves, local organizations).
  • Maintain professional, pro-social behavior and log supervision hours.

CERTIFIED PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST (PRS)

Reports To: SUD Program Manager

Position(s) Supervised: None

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Thursday

Pay Range: $22 - 24 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

TheCertified PeerRecoverySpecialist (CPRS)plays a key role inaddressingclients’feelings of stigma, social isolation, personal loss, and other mental health barriers by modeling wellness anddemonstratingpersonal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness throughout therecovery journey.The CPRSis responsibleforprovidingpeer recovery support servicesto clientsonan individual basis. These services include education, advocacy, mentoring through self-disclosure of personal recovery experiences, attending recovery and other support groups withclients,accompanyingclientsto appointments that support recovery,assistanceaccessing resources to obtain housing, employment, education, and advocacy services, andnonclinical recovery support toassistthe transition from treatment into the recovery community.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES :

  • Consult with primary counselor to determine if and what peer recovery support services areappropriate.
  • Make appointments to meet with clients and schedule on electronic health record system,Ritten.
  • Enter and maintain information regarding what services you will be assisting the client in accessing, including time and type ofservices in Ritten.
  • Communicate with counselors on a weekly basis to discuss mutual clients and collaborate on how to best support them.
  • Document the ongoing progress made towards accessing the services, outcome, and clientresponse.
  • Attend all weekly staff meetings to include daily Jump-starts, clinicals and treatment consultations with primary counselors.
  • Transportation of clients as needed.
  • Adhere to the 245G requirements andPartners Behavioral Healthcare policies and ensure that weekly clientdocumentation is completed on time.
  • Assist clients in creating a financial plan for housing and ensure this is communicated to the housing management.
  • Maintain relationships with community resources to include food shelves, local RCO’s, appropriate non-profit organizations, etc.
  • Always maintain and exemplify pro-social behaviors.
  • Maintain logged supervision hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Understanding of industry-specific policies, such as Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations for health care.
  • Organized and capable of gathering data from multiple sources, many for more than one bill at a time.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to solve problems, answer questions and collaboratively produce mutually beneficial solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years of age.
  • Active PRS certification from the MN Certification Board.
  • Have a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder.
  • Knowledge and understanding of implications of 245G.
  • Successfully complete DHS (Department of Human Services) background study.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using Ritten software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is primarily in an office or clinical setting, and in the community.
  • Typicalenvironment includes individual counseling rooms, group therapy rooms, and standard office settings.
  • Physical demands include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods,facilitategroup sessions, and occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires use of office equipment, including computers, phones, and filing systems.
  • Ability toobserveclient behavior, read and interpret documentation, and respond to verbal and non-verbal cues.
  • Work may involve emotionally intense or unpredictable client interactions;abilityto manage stress and respond calmly to crises is essential.
  • Must follow all safety protocols to ensure personal, client, and staff safety.

CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Maintain active PRS certification and renew every two years.
  • Complete and provide documentation of 30 hours to DHS of continuing education in areas of mental healthrecovery, mental health rehabilitative services, andpeersupport.
  • Attend in-house training and required staff meetings.
