Job summary

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor based in Baton Rouge, LA, with a Norco, LA position for a skilled crane operator. The role focuses on operating overhead cranes to move heavy components safely, with required NCCER/NCCCO certification and proven rigging experience.

Qualifications

• NCCER or NCCCO certification required for small hydraulic fixed cab, large hydraulic swing cab cranes.
• NCCER or NCCCO certification, rigging and signal person.
• Verifiable industrial experience in assembly/disassembly and operation of all four types of cranes.
• Knowledge of rigging hardware used in routine lifting (slings, shackles, etc.).
• Knowledge of alternative lifting methods (gantries, jack & sliding, bull rigging).
• Skills to plan and execute lifts and act as A/D director for buyer cranes.
• TWIC card required.
• Valid state issued Class A CDL license required.
• Candidates must pass drug test and background check.
• Per diem and relocation not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Read and sign off on JSA.
• Operates overhead crane from a cab.
• Receive verbal location signals to move materials.
• Stay awake and aware of surroundings.
• Use hand levers to control crane functions.
• Perform daily crane inspections.
• Read load charts.
• Interpret hand signals with crew.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
