Job summary

Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR, is seeking an Orthotist to design, fabricate, and fit orthotic devices for assigned patients. You will document care, assist the Chief of Prosthetics/Orthotics, and support department operations on Weekdays.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, an Arkansas Orthotist License, and 2+ years in pediatric orthotics. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; required clinical education in orthotics/prosthetics.
  • Orthotist license issued by Arkansas Department of Health.
  • ABCP/ABC certification in orthotics, prosthetics and pedorthics in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform evaluations and data collection to determine best orthotic treatments.
  • Educate patients and families about orthotic options and care.
  • Maintain patient load in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary clinic team approach.
  • Fabricate and fit a wide variety of orthoses per current standards.
  • Ensure production times are met and documentation is accurate.
  • Develop or design systems to meet patient needs.
  • Select and interpret data for oral and written documentation.
  • Report data in professional terminology promptly.
  • Use scheduling and charge mechanisms correctly for patient visits.
  • Coordinate patient referrals to other services as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate billing codes for services.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Prosthetic-Orthotic Summary:

Additional Information:

Responsible for the design, fabrication, and fit of all orthotic devices assigned. Responsible for all documentation for assigned patients. Assists Chief of Prosthetics/Orthotics in operations of department and section designee in Chief of Prosthetics/Orthotics's absence.

Description

  • 1. Performs appropriate evaluations and elicits needed data to determine most appropriate treatments for the selected disability and sets appropriate goals.
  • 2. Identifies needs and provides correct patient and family education regarding those needs.
  • 3. Maintains patient load in keeping with AC requirements.
  • 4. Participates as an Orthotist in the interdisciplinary clinic team approach.
  • 5. Fabricates and fits a wide variety of orthoses in keeping with standard of current practice.
  • 6. Ensures that production times are met.
  • 7. Develops or designs systems to meet the current needs of the patients.
  • 8. Correctly selects and interprets appropriate data for oral and written documentation.
  • 9. Reports data in professional terminology and in a timely manner.
  • 10. Utilizes patient appointment scheduling procedure and charge mechanisms correctly.
  • 11. Utilizes patient referral mechanisms to other medical services (Inpatient, Outpatient, Specialty Clinics, Physicians, Physical and Occupational Therapists).
  • 12. Maintain fees for service in line with funding sources and maintains appropriate coding structure for the services provided.
  • 13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
