Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant to join the onsite surgical team in Boston. You will perform perioperative patient care, assist with ophthalmic procedures, and help manage instruments and sterile fields.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant certification required (OSA) through JCAHPO.
• 2-3 years of supervised ophthalmology procedural experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative testing and prepare patients for surgery.
• Provide pre- and post-operative education to patients.
• Identify and administer ophthalmic medications and eye drops as directed by the surgeon.
• Prepare the operating room and equipment, maintain sterile field.
• Support the surgeon during ophthalmic procedures with instruments and supplies.
• Sterilize instruments and adhere to infection control standards.
