Lehigh Valley Health Network in Bethlehem seeks a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist to perform advanced ocular testing and assist with procedures, under physician supervision. You will document chief complaints, educate patients, and support the clinical team.

The role requires 15+ years in ophthalmology with COA, COT, COMT certifications and a high school diploma. The position is full-time with day shift responsibilities and equipment maintenance duties.

Qualifications

• Initiates and documents patients' chief complaints and ocular findings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and educates on meds and pre/post-operative care.
• Trains staff and assists with minor procedures and laser treatments.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for physicians with initial visual screening exams (Keratometry, Corneal Topography, Visual Fields, OCT, specular microscopy, Biometry, B-scan).
• Scribes physician exam notes and patient instructions into medical records.
• Educates patients on medication administration and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Maintains ophthalmic instruments and ensures inventory of supplies.

Performs testing and assists the provider with procedures, injections, and treatments. Educates patients regarding the administration of medications, pre- and post-operative instructions. Reviews and educates patients on intraocular lens implant options on behalf of the physician. Aids in clinical development of staff and as a resource for training. **Job Duties*** Prepares patients for physicians by doing initial visual screening exams including but not limited to Keratotomy, Corneal Topography, Visual Fields, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), specular microscopy, Biometry, and B-Scan Ultrasound. Provides and records preliminary screening examinations per written procedures for physician review.* Scribes physician exam and patient instructions into the patients' medical record. Educates patients regarding administration of medications and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
