Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant for the LVPG-L Ophthalmology - Fogelsville site. The role involves conducting ophthalmic testing, assisting with procedures, and educating patients on medications and post-care.

You will support ophthalmology providers in a fast-paced clinic environment. Ideal candidates bring 1 year of ophthalmology or medical assisting experience, strong medical terminology, and familiarity with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year experience in ophthalmology or medical assisting.
• COA certification upon hire; Pennsylvania credential.

Responsibilities

• Performs preliminary ophthalmic testing such as pressures, visual acuity, and slit lamp exams.
• Performs automated and manual testing (auto/ manual refractions, keratometry, pachymetry).
• Administers topical eye drops per physician order or protocol and documents results.
• Assists with minor surgery and maintains exam rooms and equipment.

Initiates and documents the patient's chief complaint, relevant medical history, and pertinent ocular findings. Performs testing and assists the provider with procedures, injections, and treatments.
