Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum NY in Miller Place, NY seeks a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our care delivery team. The role focuses on preliminary screenings, patient care, and clerical duties in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice.

Hours include 7am–7pm Monday–Thursday and 8am–4pm Friday–Saturday, with 8-hour shifts and occasional evenings. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification as a Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO is required.
• BLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of patient care under supervision, including screening and basic eye exams.
• Stock and maintain exam rooms and handle supplies and instrument sterilization.
• Assist with appointments, telephone screening, and chart documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional behavior with patients and staff.
• Support ongoing professional development and training for self and colleagues.

Education

Certification as a certified Ophthalmic Assistant by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
