Job summary

Optum NY in Miller Place, NY seeks a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our care-delivery team. You will participate in patient screening, eye examinations, and basic clinical support under supervision. The role includes clerical duties, room preparation, and instrument maintenance.

Open shifts include Mon–Thurs 7am–7pm and Fri/Sat 8am–4pm; expect patient contact, teamwork, and ongoing professional development within a large, supportive organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification as a certified Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO is required.
• Ability to support shifts within the hours of operation Mon–Thurs 7am–7pm and Fri/Sat 8am–4pm.

Responsibilities

• Participates in delivery of patient care with close supervision, performing preliminary screening exams.
• Stocking and maintenance of exam and procedure rooms; supply management and instrument sterilization.
• Clerical support including appointment scheduling, call screening, and chart documentation.
• Demonstrates professional conduct, confidentiality, and respectful interactions with patients and staff.
• Participates in own professional development and supports training of others.
• Performs additional duties incidental to the role.
