• Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history.
• Perform visual acuity.
• Perform diagnostic testing under supervision (visual field, refractometry, keratometry, topography, pachymetry, intraocular pressure).
• Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
• Provides age-specific care from toddlers to elderly.
• Provides other patient services and education as requested by physicians.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Follows all policies and standards and PHI handling requirements as trained.

What You Will Do

• Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting.
• Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history.
• Perform visual acuity.
• Perform diagnostic testing under the supervision of physicians and techs. These tests include visual field testing, refractometry, keratometry, topography, pachymetry, and intraocular pressure check.
• Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
• Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers.
• Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly .
• Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
