University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center is seeking an experienced Operating Room Technician to join its high‑acuity perioperative team. You will support sterile technique, prepare instruments, and assist surgeons to ensure safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires CST and BLS certifications, plus 6 months of OR/ Surgical Technologist experience; 1–3 years is strongly preferred.

Formación

• Valid CST certification is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• 6 months Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technologist experience is required.
• 1–3 years of OR/Surgical Technologist experience strongly preferred.
• Cardiac and trauma proficiency preferred.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for operative procedures.
• Scrub and assist during surgical procedures while maintaining aseptic technique and sterile field integrity.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and procedural teams during operations.
• Perform surgical counts in collaboration with the RN circulator according to department policy.
• Prepare operating rooms between procedures including cleaning, turnover, and restocking of supplies/equipment.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain surgical equipment, instrumentation, and power devices.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfers, transport, and intraoperative patient support activities as delegated.
• Identify breaks in sterile technique and elevate concerns appropriately to support patient safety.
• Support efficient OR workflow while collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, RNs, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, sterilization, and perioperative standards of care.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Join the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center's Operating Room team as an Operating Room Technician. Schedule Details

4 x 10-Hour Shifts | 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. | Every Other Weekend & Holidays Required.

Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.

Licensure & Experience

• Valid Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification, required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
• 6 months Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technologist experience experience, required.
• 1 - 3 years of Operating Room/Surgical Technologist experience strongly preferred.
• Cardiac and trauma proficiency preferred.

• Pay Range: $28.50 - $46.39 per hour.
