Job description

As a Certified Oncology Data Specialist Coordinator, you will perform the functions of a Tumor Registry Coordinator I as well as coordinate Commission on Cancer Accreditation (COCA) activities and special projects while also serving as a mentor and trainer to caregivers on the Tumor Registry team.

This is a fully remote position, meaning caregivers will work from home 5 days a week. This position can be located in the select states of Ohio, Florida or Nevada. Some business travel may be required occasionally throughout the year.

A caregiver who excels in this role, will:
  1. Coordinate Commission on Cancer (COCA) Accreditation activities including establishing meetings with key stakeholders, serving on committees to address standards and following up on special projects.
  2. Coordinate/participate in special projects.
  3. May serve as a mentor and trainer to Follow-up Specialists, Coordinator, Tumor Registry I employees, and health information management programs' visiting students.
  4. Perform accurate and complete case ascertainment.
  5. Collect and interpret information on each reportable case.
  6. Code, classify and index stage of disease and treatment information.
  7. Maintain a maximum abstracting delay of 6 months from the initial diagnosis/contact.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
  1. Associate's Degree preferred.
  2. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) by the National Cancer Registrars Association.
  3. Minimum of one year of experience in case abstraction.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
  1. Certification through the NCRA.
  2. At least 2 years of experience abstracting cases with a quality score of 90% or above.
  3. Strong work ethic.
  4. Ability to thrive working both independently and as part of a team.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $20.77

Maximum hourly: $31.68

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education.
