Job summary

Mercy Hospital Logan County in Guthrie, OK is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our full-time rehabilitation team. You will support occupational therapy services under supervision, contributing to patient assessments and treatment plans.

This role requires completion of an accredited OTA program, state licensure or eligibility, and BLS certification. Experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply as part of a compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited OTA program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible to practice in the state.
• One year of experience preferred; new graduates considered.
• BLS certification required and current.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial patient assessments under supervision and per departmental policies.
• Document progress notes and continuation of treatment needs in patient records.
• Administer modalities, exercises, or treatment procedures as directed.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records, per policy and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of needs across neonatal to geriatric age groups.

Position Details:

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Full-time, 40 hours per week

Mercy Hospital Logan County - Guthrie, OK

Under the general supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to standards of treatment, assists with objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all age ranges, according to departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and procedures on standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department
• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Qualifications:

• Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensure: Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• Experience: One year experience is preferred, but will consider new graduates.
• Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.
