Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA, OTA) in Home Health provides occupational therapy to patients in their homes, aiming to restore their physical abilities. Duties are performed in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established care plan.

  • Follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, adhering strictly to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
  • Instruct and assist patients with evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice for occupational therapy assistants, following state laws.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses and condition changes to the supervising OT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with other healthcare team members as appropriate.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members about therapy areas within the OTA scope.
Education and Experience

License Requirements

  • Current OTA licensure in Florida
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
