Shift details: Full Time, Days, Monday-Friday, 1 weekend day every 4 weeks

Summary

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant administers Occupational Therapy treatment to adult and pediatric patients of all ages following an evaluation and plan of care established by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Maintains sensitivity to each patient's cultural needs and age- specific needs as they relate to growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Specializes in all facets of Occupational Therapy treatment for patients of all ages.
  • Possesses and maintains an understanding of the principles of growth and development.
  • Conducts a progressive Occupational Therapy treatment program following the assessment of the patient and development of a treatment plan by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • At frequent intervals review each patient's status and treatment program with the supervising therapist and make recommendations for upgrades in the plan of care.
  • Document patient treatment in the medical record according to the established policy.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure coordination of treatment.
  • Maintains expected level of productivity.
  • Assists Occupational Therapist in the clinical education of Occupational Therapy Assistant students.
  • Participates in patient related therapeutic recreation programs to transfer patient related skills acquired in therapy to community use.
  • Participates in learning experiences to maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Performs additional advanced job duties, as outlined in the Rehab Clinical Ladder, which must be pre-approved and determined by the Rehab Committee.

Experience

Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program is required.

Credentials

Florida Licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant required.

Unit Specific Credential

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)and any additionalapplicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hirewith at least 6 months validityand maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
