Job summary

Smokyridgehc seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to work under a licensed OT, delivering skilled therapy to residents to improve daily living activities and independence. You will implement treatment plans, document progress, and collaborate with the supervising OT to adjust plans as needed.

The role requires an OTA program graduate with valid COTA licensure and CPR certification; prior SNF/LTC experience is preferred, along with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current and valid COTA certification/licensure.
  • CPR certification required (or must obtain upon hire).
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide occupational therapy interventions including ADL training, adaptive equipment use, and functional mobility tasks.
  • Document residents’ treatments, progress, and response to interventions in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding residents’ progress and modify treatment plans when appropriate.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on exercises, adaptive strategies, and home safety techniques to promote independence.
  • Adhere to facility policies, professional standards of practice, and all state and federal regulations.

Job description

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide skilled therapy services that help residents improve their ability to perform daily living activities, maximize independence, and enhance quality of life.

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist.
