Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background: Successfully completed an accredited occupational therapy assistant program recognized by the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
  2. Licensure: Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the state of Florida
  3. Experience: Prior experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant is required; experience in skilled nursing facilities (SNF) is preferred
  4. Professional Membership: Membership in state and national American Occupational Therapy Associations is a plus
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Strong administrative and public relations skills to foster effective relationships with patients and colleagues
  6. Therapeutic Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in occupational therapy
  7. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of potential hazards to patients during treatment and the necessary precautions
  8. Technical Training: Training in the use of prescriptive devices (e.g., electrical stimulation, ultrasound) is preferred
  9. Collaboration Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff
  10. Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrated emotional stability to manage the demands of patient care and teamwork
  11. Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining patient and employee confidentiality
  12. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of Medicare and third-party reimbursement; experience with Net Health is a plus
