The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist and as directed by a licensed physician. The COTA is responsible for a specific patient’s care, implementing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures based on a treatment plan established by an Occupational Therapist. The goal is to restore function and prevent disability following illness or injury. The COTA performs these responsibilities in accordance with hospital and departmental policies, ensuring the highest quality of patient care.
