The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist and as directed by a licensed physician. The COTA is responsible for specific patient care, implementing occupational therapy modalities and treatment procedures as outlined in a treatment plan established by an Occupational Therapist. The goal is to restore function and prevent disability following illness or injury, in accordance with hospital and departmental policies, while maintaining high-quality patient care.
