Job summary

Soliant is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time contract in the Elgin, IL area, supporting students from preschool through age 22 across multiple campuses in a dynamic school-based setting.

You will travel between elementary, middle, and high schools, implement therapy plans with licensed OTs, and document progress while collaborating with educators, families, and therapists to maximize student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active COTA license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Educator license from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
• Experience in school settings preferring PreK–22.
• Willingness to travel among multiple schools (elementary to high school).
• Fingerprinting and credentialing required.

Responsibilities

• Support OTs by implementing therapy plans tailored to students’ needs.
• Provide direct therapy services to a diverse caseload (fine motor, sensory-motor, self-care).
• Document student progress using school-standard systems.
• Communicate with staff, parents, and therapists for coordinated care.

Job description

Make an immediate impact in students’ lives as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic school-based setting near Elgin, IL! This contract role provides the chance to work full-time, with schedules ranging between 35 and 37.5 hours per week, supporting students across several campuses from preschool through age 22. You’ll collaborate with educators and licensed OTs, helping students overcome barriers, develop essential skills, and achieve independence within their school environment.

Role Requirements:

• Active COTA license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Educator license from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
• Previous experience in school settings preferred, working with children and young adults from PreK through transition (up to 22 years old)
• Ability and willingness to work itinerantly among multiple schools (elementary, middle, and high school levels)
• Flexibility to adapt to different school schedules and environments as assigned
• Must complete required fingerprinting and credentialing

Main Responsibilities:

• Support OTs by implementing therapy plans tailored to students’ needs
• Provide direct therapy services to a diverse caseload, fostering growth in fine motor, sensory-motor, and self-care skills
• Document student progress, participation, and response to interventions using school-standard systems
• Communicate consistently with staff, parents, and therapists to ensure coordinated care and maximize student outcomes
• Attend team meetings and collaborate with school professionals to develop and review individual education plans (IEPs)
• Move efficiently between school sites and manage schedules to provide consistent support
