Position Overview:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will work under the supervision of our Occupational Therapists to support the delivery of occupational therapy services. The COTA's role is crucial in assisting residents to develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents through therapeutic intervention and care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the assessment of resident needs and the development of treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic activities and exercises as outlined in treatment plans to promote residents' health and well-being.
  • Monitor and document residents' progress and provide feedback to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Educate residents and their families on strategies and techniques to facilitate independence in daily living activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning and evaluation of care programs.
  • Stay current with best practices in occupational therapy and comply with federal, state, and facility regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Alabama.
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care facility is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
