Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our clinical team in Illinois. You will follow a therapist’s plan, adjust treatments based on patient response, and implement occupation-based interventions tailored to each patient’s needs.

Collaboration with families and healthcare providers is essential. You will educate patients and caregivers, document accurately in the therapy EMR, and contribute to quality-of-service activities.

Qualifications

• COTA certification (NBCOT) required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days.
• Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Must follow and implement an OT plan of care.
• Ability to adapt interventions to patient limitations.
• Ability to complete ROM measurements of elbow, wrist and hand.
• Ability to train patients in activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Availability for one weekend per month and one summer and one winter holiday per year.

Responsibilities

• Complete elbow, wrist and hand ROM measurements.
• Train patients in ADLs (dressing, cooking).
• Document daily notes and charging in the therapy EMR.
• Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations to referring providers.

• Implement patient-centered, occupation-based intervention plans
• Plan treatment activities around patients’ and families’ functional and emotional needs

• Collaborate with patients, families, significant others, occupational therapists, and healthcare providers
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers
• Produce clear, objective, accurate clinical documentation
• Participate in quality-of-service activities
• Provide occupational therapy interventions based on the evaluating OT’s plan of care
• Complete elbow, wrist, and hand range-of-motion measurements
• Train patients on activities of daily living, including dressing and cooking skills
• Complete daily documentation and charging in the therapy EMR

Requirements

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days
