• Educate patients, caregivers, and providers using effective methods.
• Produce clear, professional documentation supporting treatment decisions and progress.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and communicate with team members and external providers.
• Provide interventions such as ROM measurements and ADL training, and document therapy activities in EMR.

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient-centered occupational therapy services to individuals of all ages, serving as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.

Responsibilities Include

• Following and adjusting the therapist's plan of care based on patient responses, after communication with the evaluating therapist and documenting accordingly.
• Implementing occupation-based intervention plans tailored to patient needs, adapting activities for physical, cognitive, and behavioral limitations, and modifying treatment approaches as necessary.
• Collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare team members throughout the therapy process.
• Educating patients, caregivers, and providers using effective methods.
• Producing clear, professional documentation supporting treatment decisions and progress.
• Participating in quality improvement activities and communicating effectively with team members and external providers.
• Providing specific interventions such as range of motion measurements and ADL training, and documenting therapy activities in EMR.

Qualifications & Skills

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (NBCOT certification)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
• Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance
