Job summary

MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy is expanding our team of therapy professionals in East Lansing, MI. We are seeking a passionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a multidisciplinary team and help children reach their fullest potential.

You will deliver play-based, evidence-informed therapy in a collaborative setting with OTs, speech, PT, and feeding specialists. The role emphasizes family education, progress tracking, and compliant documentation within a supportive clinic

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited COTA program with an associate degree.
  • Valid state COTA license (Michigan) required.
  • Current NBCOT registration or eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Support children's participation in meaningful activities through therapeutic interventions.
  • Deliver hands-on, play-based therapy in outpatient clinic settings.
  • Collaborate with licensed OTs to develop and progress individualized treatment plans.
  • Track, assess, and document client progress for plans of care and discharge planning.
  • Educate families on home exercise programs to extend progress outside sessions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with clinical standards.

Your Impact

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at MetroEHS, you will:

  • Help children overcome daily challenges by supporting their participation in meaningful activities through therapeutic interventions.
  • Deliver hands-on, play-based therapy in an outpatient clinic setting, following evidence-based, sensory-integrative, and developmental approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with licensed Occupational Therapists to develop, implement, and progress individualized treatment plans.
  • Track and assess client progress, contributing to updates in plans of care and discharge planning.
  • Educate families and caregivers on home exercise programs and strategies to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in alignment with clinical best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team of healthcare professionals to enhance each child’s functional abilities and overall well-being.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant program with the minimum of an associate degree.
  • Possess a valid state Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant License as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Current registration and licensure with NBCOT
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Active & Engaged Work – Kneeling, bending and playing at ground level.
  • Hands-On Support – Lifting up to 50+ lbs may be required.
  • Quick Reflexes – Ability to respond to behaviors such as elopement (running away) or aggressive actions.
  • Loud or Noisy Environments – Working with active children in dynamic settings.
  • Potential Exposure to Bodily Fluids – Assisting with hygiene or accidental incidents.

Work Schedule
  • Monday-Friday between 9am-6pm
Compensation
  • After applying, a member of our recruiting team will call to review the pay range and opportunities for additional compensation through productivity bonuses. Compensation varies based on each clinician’s unique skills and experience.
