The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (C.O.T.A) performs occupational therapy treatments under the clinical supervision of the Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of Occupational Therapy.
Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of Mississippi. Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Prefer minimum of one (1) year rehabilitation experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility. Prefer active membership in the state and national American Occupational Therapy Association.
Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Occupational Therapist and the policies and procedures of Mississippi Methodist Senior Services.
Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.
Working conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Requires ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
