JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Responsible to: Occupational Therapist

Responsible for: No One

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments,

Medical Staff and the public.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, performs treatments and provides exercise instructions and demonstrations for inpatients, outpatients, home health patients, nursing home residents, and school kids.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Experience as a COTA or in the health field preferred, but not necessary.

Education: Must be a graduate of an Occupational Therapist Assistant program .

Req. Cert./ Certified in the State of Kansas or eligible for licensure with

Registration: Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

American Heart CPR certified.

JOB DUTIES

• 1. Provides treatment as ordered in a safe, timely manner in accordance with the standards of practice for Occupational Therapy.
• 2. Maintains equipment in proper working order and adapts the equipment to meet the needs of the patient.
• 3. Communicates with Physicians, other department staff, patients, and family members regarding patient progress, problems and plan.
• 4. Documents the treatment in concise format in accordance with Standards of practice.
• 5. Instructs the patient, family members, or other caregivers in therapeutic procedures and/or exercises to be continued upon discharge.
• 6. Assists in the referral process when additional services are required.
• 7. Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed.
• 8. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field.
• 9. Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team” setting
