Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in Lanham, MD for an in-home and outpatient setting. The role supports older adults with occupational therapy services under supervision, with a guaranteed 40-hour work week.

Position is onsite, local contract for 17 weeks, starting 10/09/2026. The incumbent will implement therapy plans, document care, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to maximize patient independence.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to patients’ residences.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and contributes to patient care and required meetings under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Ensures adherence to treatment schedule, documentation, and billing requirements.
  • Works with the rehabilitation team to develop patient programs and activities.
  • Instructs patients and caregivers in therapy techniques and activities.
  • Maintains timely documentation for all patients treated.

Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Length of assignment: 17 Weeks
Shift: 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM
Minimum guarantee: 40 Hours
Location: Lanham, MD

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The in-home setting could be a patient's private residence or in a patient's room in an independent living facility. Client Rehabilitation To You allows the Occupational Therapy Assistant to treat in the most functional environment which is the patient's home. The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This position provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.

Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.

Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Instructs patients, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.

Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.

Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Implements a patient's individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.

Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as, but not limited to:

muscle strength

coordination

mobility

sensory awareness

sitting and standing tolerance

balance

activities of daily living

joint protection

work simplification

orientation

physical agent modalities

low vision

medication management

health and wellness

community integration and reintegration

Performs other related duties as required.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.

Must have a valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patients' residence.

JOB SKILLS:

Good organizational and time management skills.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

COMPLIANCE

Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies and procedures including but not limited to those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act and HIPAA.

Participates in required orientation and training programs.

Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.

Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.

Participates, as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
