Overview

The Home Health OT Assistant is a clinically competent and licensed professional who provides treatment for Home Care/Home Health residents/patients under the occupational therapy plan of care as established by the therapist. Effectively and professionally interacts with residents/patients, family members, responsible party and other home health care team members, while maintaining standards of professional conduct. This position complies with regulatory standards of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Department of Health, and any other professional guidelines or standards.

Responsibilities

Perform specific assessment components of treatment and report findings to occupational therapist (i.e. ADL or cognitive assessments). Provide treatment to meet individual’s needs (physical, cultural, and psychosocial) per plan of care. Respond promptly to acute changes in resident’s physiological state and report to occupational therapist; modify or adjust treatment plan within limits of the plan of care. Communicate resident progress and response to treatment effectively with supervising therapist and other interdisciplinary staff members. Plan for and provide resident, family and caregiver education, identify learning needs, clearly communicate information, and documents response to education provided. Document and complete billing according to current standards and policies. Plan for resident discharge, anticipate long term and short term resident needs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team and make recommendations for discharge to occupational therapist. Attend meetings, workshops, seminars and participate in committees as requested/required by facility. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, which must be in good standing

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • One (1) or more years of experience in long term care

$25.00 to $32.00 per hour
