Job summary

Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to deliver high-quality occupational therapy services in our 137-bed skilled nursing facility. This PRN role offers a flexible schedule within a supportive rehab team led by an experienced Director of Rehabilitation.

The successful candidate will provide individual therapy, assist in assessments, and help develop and adjust care plans in collaboration with the MDS.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university is required for COTA.
• Minimum of one year of related experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility; new grads considered.
• Patience, courtesy, excellent customer service skills, dependability and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, developing, and delivering Occupational Therapy Services according to standards to ensure high-quality resident care.
• Provide individual therapy services to residents according to care plans.
• Assist in resident assessment activities as needed.
• Assist in developing therapy plans for residents with MDS.
• Adjust therapy plans to match or support resident care plan goals.
• Prepare equipment and brief residents on procedures involved in occupational therapy.
• Participate in discharge planning and care plan development.
• Interview residents and family members as necessary.
• Coordinate therapy appointments with other departments.
• Maintain safety standards in the therapy department.
• Maintain supplies and appearance of the therapy area.

Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is a 137 bed industry leading Skilled nursing facility with a supportive family environment. Our compassionate rehab teams are led by an experienced Director of Rehabilitation.

The rehab department utilizes Optima Therapy for billing and documentation to assist therapists with daily efficiency where quality care remains the primary focus of each therapist. The facility has a 7-day a week, In-House comprehensive rehabilitation program that is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. Our rehab positions are stable and secure at one location.

Responsibilities of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):

• Your primary focus will be to assist in the planning, organizing, developing, and delivering of Occupational Therapy Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, to ensure the highest degree of quality resident is continuously maintained.
• Providing individual therapy services to residents according to the care plans.
• Assisting in resident assessment activities as needed
• Assisting as needed in developing therapy plans for individual residents in conjunction with MDS.
• Keeping the Therapist informed of any need to adjust therapy plans to match or support resident care plan goals.
• Briefing residents in procedures involved in occupational therapy and preparing necessary equipment.
• Participating in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, resident assessments, etc.
• Interviewing residents and family members, as necessary.
• Coordinating therapy appointments with other departments.
• Following therapy department safety standards.
• Maintaining the care and use of supplies, equipment, and appearance of the therapy area.
  

Requirements of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):

• An associate degree from an accredited college or university for COTA is required.
• A minimum of one year of related experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other related medical facility is required, as is the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. New Grads will be considered.
• The successful candidate will also demonstrate patience, courtesy, excellent customer service skills, dependability, attention to detail and flexibility.
• Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
