Job summary

Presbyterian Village North in North Dallas is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (PRN) to join the Rehab Department. The role supports therapy services, providing treatments under the OT direction and coordinating care for residents in a Skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation setting.

The position requires Texas licensure as a COTA, familiarity with SNF/LTC environments, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

  • Texas licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Knowledge of therapy regulations and reimbursement policies.
  • Able to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in SNF/LTC/IL/AL/OP settings preferred.
  • Basic computer skills – Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Model a service attitude towards residents and co-workers and take initiative to improve service.
  • Ensure safety by reporting hazards to residents, patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Provide resident therapy treatments as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Document treatment and progress notes in the medical record per policy.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on OT modalities.
  • Demonstrate good clinical judgment in resident treatments.
  • Screen residents to determine need for OT intervention.
  • Develop and participate in OT programming for residents.
  • Attend in-services and meetings as required; maintain licensure CE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by OT and Director of Rehab.

Essential Duties
  • Model a service attitude towards others, take ownership in solving problems, and take initiative to improve service, while remaining friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co‑workers.
  • Ensure resident, patient, visitor, and co‑worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards.
  • Provide resident therapy treatments as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Document treatment and progress notes and other clinical work in the medical record per departmental policy and procedure.
  • Provide resident, family, and staff education pertaining to Occupational Therapy modalities to ensure understanding and proficiency of care.
  • Demonstrate good clinical judgment in all aspects of resident treatments in which trained to provide.
  • Screen residents to determine their potential benefit from Occupational Therapy intervention and communicate need for intervention to Occupational Therapist.
  • Develop, direct, and/or participate in Occupational Therapy programming for the residents.
  • Attend in‑services and other meetings as required on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain continuing education per state licensure requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Occupational Therapist and Director of Rehab.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Texas.
  • Knowledge of therapy industry and federal, state and local government regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated efficiency strategies for fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience in SNF/LTC/IL/AL/OP setting or mature population rehabilitation and wellness needs.
  • Experience with PDPM treatment and reimbursement policy.
  • Basic computer skills – Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, special needs and hospice patients.
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements.
  • Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities.
  • Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures.
