Job description

We are hiring in Carmel NY! Join us for an exciting opportunity as a part-time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant at $35-38/hr.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Administers Occupational Therapy patient care programs as planned with and directed by OTR. Receives direct OTR supervision for 10% of treatment time.
  2. Assists the OTR when performing tests, evaluations, and/or complex treatment procedures, whenever necessary.
  3. Follows established departmental procedures and observes safety precautions during treatment implementation.
  4. Confers daily or as needed with the supervising OTR to ensure effective patient progress.
  5. Promotes total rehabilitation services and acts as a team member in treatment planning.
  6. Documents patient progress in medical records and maintains charts per departmental protocol.
  7. Provides written and/or illustrated home exercise programs when appropriate.
  8. Participates in departmental staff meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education.
  9. Maintains accurate records of patient treatment and equipment charges, submitting required statistical and billing information.
  10. Writes formal progress and discharge summary notes (co-signed by OTR) to physicians promptly.
  11. Communicates regularly with physicians and other health professionals to optimize patient care.
  12. Participates in departmental program development and takes responsibility for special clinics and programs as assigned.
  13. Assists in maintaining and organizing the work area and equipment, noting safety and serviceability issues.
Education and Experience:
  1. Associates degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA and AMA approved school.
  2. Registered or eligible for registry by the AOTA.
  3. Current license by the State Board of Registration in Medicine.
  4. CPR certified or eligible for certification.
  5. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
