Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking a COTA to provide direct rehab care in occupational therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting.

You will follow established treatment plans, document progress, and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes; new grads are welcome, with full-time and PRN schedules and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• NBCOT certification required at hire; renewal optional.
• Graduate of an accredited OT program (ASOT).
• Currently licensed/registered in the applicable state; active status.
• One year of experience preferred; new grads welcome.
• CPR certification required at hire or during orientation; must stay current.

Responsibilities

• Follow occupational treatment plans under supervision of an OT.
• Chart patient progress in a timely manner.
• Use therapy software accurately.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients.
• Assist in patient evacuation when needed.
• Maintain regular attendance and professional conduct.

Setting & Population Served

Life Care Centers of America facilities operate as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that provide:

• Long term care for residents who require ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance
• Short term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury

Position Summary

The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements

• NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward
• Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT)
• Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
• One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
• CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Specific Job Requirements

• Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
• Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
• Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
• Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
• Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
• Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
• Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
• Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
