Job summary

Life Care Centers of America seeks a COTA to provide direct OT assistant services in our skilled nursing facilities. You will work under the supervision of an OT, following physician referrals and Life Care standards to support patient progress and quality of life.

Responsibilities include using therapy plans, documenting progress, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. A valid NBCOT and state licensure, plus CPR, are required at hire or during orientation.

Qualifications

  • NBCOT certification on hire; renewal optional.
  • Graduate of an accredited OT program (ASOT).
  • Currently registered/licensed in the applicable state and maintain active license.
  • One year experience preferred; new grads welcome.
  • CPR certification on hire or during orientation; must remain current.

  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • Liaises with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs.
  • Follow occupational treatment plans under supervision of the OT.
  • Chart appropriately and timely.
  • Utilize therapy software appropriately.
  • Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Communicate and function on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Read/write/speak English.

Position Summary

The COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Education, Experience, And Licensure Requirements
  • NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward
  • Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (ASOT)
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) year experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements
  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
  • Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training

  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
