Job summary

Luna Rehabilitation and Care Center in Deming, NM is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting. You will provide direct OT interventions, educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, document progress, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapists to ensure comprehensive patient care.

• AS degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
• Current active COTA license in good standing.
• Experience in SNF or geriatric rehabilitation is preferred.
• Knowledge of NETHEALTH and documentation procedures.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

Luna Rehabilitation and Care Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct occupational therapy interventions based on established care plans to improve patients' motor skills, coordination, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Educate patients and their families on adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and strategies to enhance independence.
• Document patient progress, treatment sessions, and responses to therapy in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Adhere to all federal, state, and facility regulations and policies, ensuring compliance with ethical and professional standards.
• Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment and report any issues or concerns to the supervising OT.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education to stay updated on best practices in occupational therapy.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
• Current and active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
• Previous experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or geriatric rehabilitation setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of NETHEALTH and documentation procedures.
• CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
