Certified Nursing Assistant-Women and Infant Care Unit-Full Time

Overview

Works under the supervision of Registered Nurse/LPN and Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of hospital patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified treatments. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and provide appropriate care according to departmental policies. Promotes a safe work environment for staff and patients, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and utilize technology systems for patient data collection.
  • Ensure availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) for positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow the plan of care to perform treatments and procedures competently and independently under RN/LPN guidance, including procedures like vital signs, enemas, specimen collection, etc.
  • Provide care that is consistent, competent, and ethical, respecting patient privacy and values, within legal standards of practice.
  • Participate in training and support of team members, volunteers, and students as needed.
Qualifications
  • 1 year prior experience in acute healthcare setting (preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) upon hire (required).
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute upon hire (required).
