Job Summary:

Performs under the supervision of a licensed nurse, providing patient care activities based on established policies, procedures, and regulations. Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with hygiene and medical procedures, and meeting nutritional needs. Contributes to department operations and communication, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you).

Essential Functions:
  • Provide safe, effective patient care including ADLs, mobility, and safety.
  • Document patient information accurately in EMR.
  • Review dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure appropriate diet.
  • Perform glucose monitoring and document results; run controls and ensure proper testing procedures.
  • Complete delegated tasks timely and accurately.
  • Maintain unit stock and equipment, report issues, and ensure functionality.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff, utilizing AIDET and whiteboards.
  • Assist in patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, report equipment or environmental issues.
  • Follow HIPAA regulations and use SBAR for communication.
  • Participate in training and may float to other hospital areas as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
