STGi is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide services to our Georgia War Veterans Home.

Job Summary

The general duty of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan and as directed by supervisors.

Essential Functions
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
  • Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor as soon as practical.
  • Weigh residents in accordance with their plan of care.
  • Report any significant weight loss or gain to the Charge Nurse/Nurse Supervisor according to facility policies.
  • Measure residents’ temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake, output, and food consumption; document in the medical record.
  • Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water on each shift and within easy reach.
  • Prepare residents for meals (e.g., assist with bathroom, hand washing, hair grooming, bed positioning, table setup, etc.).
  • Record food/fluid intake and report changes in eating habits.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) according to their needs, from minimal assistance to total dependent care.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing care interventions based on residents’ needs and preferences.
  • Monitor and evaluate residents’ responses to care plans and treatments.
  • Care for residents with mental, psychosocial disorders, trauma, or PTSD as per facility policies.
  • Assist in preparing residents for exams, tests, and procedures; support or escort residents to appointments.
  • Transport residents to/from appointments and social activities.
  • Assist with bowel and bladder functions (e.g., bathroom assistance, bedpan, urinal, etc.).
  • Help residents prepare for activities and social programs.
  • Assist with walking, bathing, dental care, dressing, grooming, and nail care.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, and positioning residents.
  • Apply non-sterile warm/cold compresses and elastic bandages as instructed.
  • Support residents through meaningful activities suited to their abilities.
  • Change bed linens and check/personalize residents’ possessions.
  • Collect specimens and maintain intake/output records.
  • Observe and report skin integrity issues to prevent pressure injuries.
  • Attend shift change reports and perform restorative procedures.
  • Provide non-pharmacological pain interventions and ROM exercises.
  • Perform eye and ear care as instructed.
  • Report injuries and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Introduce residents and update personal inventories.
Required Experience
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to assess patient condition and react swiftly in emergencies.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques relevant to an elderly population.
  • Effective communication skills, including proper telephone etiquette.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and facility-specific terminology.
  • Customer service skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, EMRs, and computers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training and competency evaluation program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed CNA in Georgia.
